(Friday 4/24  8:30-10:30 AM -- near Streets at Southpoint mall in Durham)

What would "No texting at the conference table!" be like? We'll look at improving our communication skills by going retro. Electronic devices and their advanced technology are amazing and essential to business. However, they also have an appropriate place and time. Let's change the way we communicate on a personal level - and reconnect by (temporarily) disconnecting.

Social Media Expert Answers Questions #ChangeSIG (8:30-10:30 AM near Streets at Southpoint in Durham)

Vickie Bevenour's first book Unleashing Your Inner Leader is due out in February and to prepare she went to social media expert Dr. Nannette Stangle-Castor, President & Founder of InnoVector Tech to learn about Twitter. Vickie was so happy with the results, she asked "Net" if she would do a Social Media program for us. Net responded by asking us what we wanted to hear -- which, after polling, is:
    • Twitter -- Why do we care about it? What is the value of Tweeting to us professionally? What do the hashtag and @ indicate?
    • Facebook -- How do we differentiate between personal and business accounts? Is it worth it to have a Facebook business account if we already have our own website?
    • How can you be authentic on social media?
    • What information would I want to share on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter?
    • What’s the value of listening to social media chatter? Is it worth my time?

For more information, contact SIG leaders, Vickie Bevenour  or Mary Charles Blakebrough (919-493-5424).

You can share your tip or trick with the group by telling us about it and/or making copies for everyone. We've found this to be one of our best programs - always full of surprises

Adventures in Facilitation: What's Hot and Happening?
(8:30-10:30 AM - near Streets at Southpoint Mall, Durham)

In this session, we will explore and share advances in collaborative team facilitation – the theory and practice.

    • Is it true that brainstorming doesn’t work?
    • How is technology being used to help cross-functional/cross-geographical collaboration?
    • Is it possible for entire organizations to adopt collaboration as an operating system instead of hierarchy?
    • Is there a maturity model for an organization’s capability to do collaborative problem-solving?
Let’s share what we know about the frontiers of working together.

Debbie Morris has been facilitating all kinds of groups, for all kinds of reasons, since 1985.  She has been studying what’s new in the practice this year. She’ll share her findings as a springboard for discussing what we’re learning from our own experiences as well.

For more information, contact SIG leaders, Vickie Bevenour  or Mary Charles Blakebrough (919-493-5424).
