TODN Change SIG Presents...

Embracing Difference:

Disability Awareness as a Catalyst

for Organizational Change

with

Timothy Kellogg, MI, BA

May 30, 2025

8:30 - 10:00 am

(Please, note new time frame!)

(This is an online Zoom meeting.  Bring your coffee and snacks.)

How does your personal background and experience influence your approach to leadership and organization development?

Join us for a refreshingly honest conversation with Tim Kellogg, a dynamic Public Library Administrator who brings both professional expertise and lived experience to the table. With warmth, humor, and genuine vulnerability, Tim will share personal stories and practical insights about Disability Awareness and ACE Intersectionality that you won't find in typical diversity training.

This isn't your standard presentation—it's an invitation to join a meaningful dialogue about how embracing disability awareness can spark powerful organizational change. Tim creates a welcoming space where Organization Development practitioners can ask real questions, challenge assumptions, and discover new approaches to leadership and collaboration.

Come prepared to engage, reflect, and leave with fresh perspectives on how our individual journeys shape the way we lead and work together. No jargon, no judgment—just authentic conversation about building organizations where everyone can truly belong.

Driving Organizational Change

We all bring our unique life experiences to work. Leaders shape organizational culture through their personal backgrounds, while team members contribute their own perspectives. In this session, Tim Kellogg will explain how unconscious biases about disability persist when people take their able-bodied experiences for granted. Creating inclusive organizations requires everyone to examine their assumptions about disability—including people with disabilities themselves.

Tim Kellogg draws from his firsthand experience with Cerebral Palsy to offer practical insights on disability awareness. He'll guide OD Practitioners through an honest exploration of how personal experiences with disability intersect with other aspects of identity. This interactive session provides tools and strategies you can immediately apply to foster more inclusive workplaces.

Key Questions You'll Explore

  1. How do unspoken beliefs about disability affect your workplace, and what can you do from your role to make it more welcoming for everyone?
  2. When disability connects with other aspects of identity (like race, gender, or age), what new insights emerge for creating better organizations?
  3. What practical steps can you take to improve accessibility in your organization, no matter what words or terms are currently accepted?

Our Presenter

Timothy Kellogg

Timothy Kellogg works as a leader in public library administration by day and on the side as a disability advocate and proponent of contextually driven humaning through Cerebral Palsy and the intersectionality of adverse childhood experiences. Tim was born with CP and worked through the challenges of growing up with a disability, joining the professional world that he was never supposed to be able to join, and has survived a family history of addiction, alcoholism, mental illness, and religious trauma. All of this together informs the context in which Tim lives, works, and shows up as a leader in his profession. Tim has a Master's of Information with a Concentration in Library Science from Rutgers University and a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies from Trinity Lutheran College. Tim's first career was in Youth Ministry, which he chose due to physical limitations and idealism, but that didn't work out. Tim now enjoys a flourishing career as a library administrator. Tim launched a plan to speak and write about disability awareness in early 2024.  Join him at:
