Facilitated by Susan Westbrook
February 13, 2025

On Zoom
(It's at lunch time...bring your lunch and enjoy being involved in the conversation.)
We are starting something new!
Normally, we have Zoom events that are led by a presenter who shows us a PowerPoint and give us her/his point of view.
In this new TODN program, you...the participant...will be engaged in a fully interactive conversation about a topic that is of interest to and of value to OD practitioners.
In this first 2025 session of Community Converations, we will be following up on the Change SIG presentation on AI from January 31, 2025.
Matt Fumento and Debbie Morris will join Susan Westbrook to further our Change SIG conversation and to explore your questions about AI and its place in the world of OD practice.
Need to catch up with this topic?
If you were not with us for the January 31 Change SIG presentation, the promotional information is printed at the end of this message.
In addition, we will create a video/or transcript of the January 31 event and make that available on Wednesday, February 12 with the Zoom link and reminder email for this Community Converations event.
Let me, Susan Westbrook, know if you have any questions. I look forward to seeing you at our first Community Conversations event.
Cheers,
Susan
From the program announcement for the January 31, 2025 Change SIG presentation:
Is AI Your Friend or Foe?
Generally, OD/HR professionals do not have time to create their own processes and tools for introducing and harnessing AI in organizations, but they need to be conversant and knowledgeable about the technology and the leadership role they can play in its evolution.
Why?
-
AI is already embedded in much of our worklife, either explicitly or implicitly. Being afraid of it isn’t an option now.
-
There are some easy and fun ways to use basic AI to do almost anything you can think of.
-
AI is changing everything about the human resources function and the nature of work, in some very positive ways and some controversial ways.
-
There is opportunity -- and perhaps an obligation -- to take a leadership role as the AI tsunami sweeps away an old world and creates a new one. And you don’t have to go it alone.
The intent of this presentation is to help participants become more aware of what artificial intelligence (AI) can do, gain insight into how AI is likely to impact the nature of work, and consider the potential roles and responsibilities that the OD profession may need to embrace. We will introduce the work and resources of an emerging consultancy called the Center for Collaborative Intelligence created to assist organizations in considering how to best use AI in their organizations.
In their presentation, Matt and Debbie will help you better understand the importance of redesigning intelligent organizations. As a result, you will be able to answer these questions:
- What is AI? What are the stages of evolution we’ll soon see in the capability of AI?
- What are some easy ways to get started using AI?
- What will AI mean for our field and the nature of our work?
