TODN Leadership SIG - Leading beyond Fear: Conditions for Innovation
Organizations need agility, innovation, and adaptability to thrive in today's rapidly changing marketplace. Most say they want innovation, yet many unknowingly create conditions that discourage it. In this session, we will explore the leadership challenge at the heart of this paradox: how to create work environments where people feel safe enough to experiment, challenge assumptions, and contribute new ideas.
Our discussion will examine the relationship between psychological safety, leadership behavior, and organizational innovation. Our goal is to leave with practical insights and actionable strategies for helping leaders foster cultures that encourage curiosity, responsible risk-taking, and continuous adaptation.
Come curious and ready to discuss:
- How leadership practices can either suppress or unleash innovation
- What are some practical actions leaders could take to create greater safety and innovation?
- What can we as OD practitioners do differently to help make that happen?

About Leadership SIG
The Leadership SIG, launched in June 2015, is a community committed to exploring best practices, processes and new models of leadership required in an ever-changing volatile world. The very definition of leadership and skills needed to be successful are evolving. Old models and training processes are quickly becoming obsolete at a time when the need for effective leadership development solutions is urgent.
The meetings are interactive discussions of leadership topics. The Leadership SIG facilitators are Cherisa Zafft and Bob Stapleton.
The Leadership SIG typically meets once a month, usually on the 3rd Wednesday of the month from 4:00-5:30 PM via Zoom .
