Launching Recovery-Friendly Work Places:

The 5 C’s for Creating Effective Partnerships

Marilyn Shannon, PRISM

October 25, 2024

8:30 - 10:30 am

(This is an online Zoom meeting.  Bring your coffee and snacks.)

Addiction in the work place costs employers $81 billion annually, according to the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD). This includes losses from reduced productivity, absenteeism, higher turnover, accidents, healthcare expenses, and workers' compensation claims.

Beyond financial impact, addiction lowers morale, increases employee stress, and creates unsafe environments.

Recovery ecosystems encourage organizers to collaborate and align their efforts towards creating recovery-friendly environments. The Recovery Ecosystem Partnerships approach uses the 5 “C’s:” Collaboration, Community, Connecting, Communication, and Creativity.   In this presentation, Marilyn Shannon will discuss each “C” in detail and explain their interconnectedness in forming a successful recovery ecosystem. Participants will gain insight into the 5 “C’s” and learn how to utilize them to forge effective partnerships. As a result, they will be able to drive positive change and make a meaningful impact within the recovery community.

At the conclusion of the presentation, participants will be able to answer these questions:

  1. What is a recovery-friendly work place?

  2. What are recovery ecosystem partnerships?

  3. How can we use the 5 Cs to create functional partnerships?
