Paradoxes of Engagement
Tuesday, October 11, 2022
5:30pm - 7:00pm.
In 'Paradoxes of Engagement' Work Futures chief scientist Stowe Boyd argues that engagement, like happiness, can only be sought -- or understood -- obliquely. And there is no panacea, only a cascade of paradoxes.
Our program theme this month is scientific research into business organizations. Often, what we take to be objective research is slanted in some way by the commitments of the researcher. Typically, this results in portraits of conflict.
Stowe Boyd writes "Work Futures", a newsletter dedicated to the economics and ecology of work, in a time of accelerating uncertainty in our lives, society, and business. He is a work ecologist, researcher, and analyst.
His work draws together a vast breadth of information and analysis to present a more complete picture of the great complexity of the world of work. A longer bio can be viewed here: www.stoweboyd.com/about
Participants can expect to open up the topic of good organizational research for new thought and conversation. The program will meet aspects of the following OD competencies: Effective Designer, Credible Strategist, and Informed Consultant.
As a bonus, Stowe will offer a one-month free subscription to the complete archive of his newsletter "Work Futures" to the first 10 participants who request it.
