Using power in leadership is what most people think when they describe a good leader - direct, unambiguous, and imposing one’s will. But best leaders use both power and influence to get the job done. In this SIG, we will explore these styles and why they are both important.

We will seek answer to the following questions:

  • What are the short term and long-term impact of being a one-dimensional leader?
  • Why it is good to master both power and influence?
  • What are the different forms of power and influence?
  • Where do both styles collide?

This year, we have explored the complex aspects of being a 21st Century leader. This conversation attempts to pull it all together where the proverbial rubber hits the road.

Hope to see you despite the short notice.

Bob Stapleton
