Mouzetta Zumwalt-Weathers, whose father was one of the great leaders of the 20th Century, will join us to share stories about his life and what made him such an extraordinary leader. His name was Elmo Russell “Bud” Zumwalt, Jr., and his legacy helped shape the culture and capability of today’s U.S. Navy.
Zumwalt dedicated much of his life to stamping out racism and discriminatory practices in the Navy. In today’s terms, Zumwalt would be described as an antiracist who took on the policies, practices, and entrenched discriminatory behaviors of Naval leadership in the 1970’s.
While Zumwalt served in the Navy a half century ago, his vision for racial equality and leadership is more relevant today given social unrest and the lack of character among political leaders. I hope you will join Mouzetta, Joe, and me for an engaging and informative discussion.
Be well,
Bob Stapleton
