Every new year brings a fresh crop of leadership books with the latest tips and techniques. Do these books bring you clarity or more confusion? How do you know which techniques or ideas will really help you bring sustainable performance improvement to your clients or organization?
In her book “Rising Strong”, Brene Brown references the nautical term “dead reckoning”. In order to chart a course forward, you need to know your exact position and assess the current conditions you are facing.
As we begin 2018, it is a good time to pause and assess what’s happening around us. There is a lot of talk about a new business paradigm. Later in his life, Dr. W. Edwards Deming stopped using the TQM label because he felt like it was becoming a superficial technique and the core meaning was getting lost. Deming believed the real work was “transforming the prevailing system of management”.
In this session of the Leadership SIG, Betsy Sheppard and Bob Stapleton will host a conversation to examine our collective observations and to begin to co-create a picture of this new paradigm. We will explore:
· What is our “fit”ness for life conditions;
· What is transformation and why is it so hard;
· How can systems thinking and Integral Theory help us see things differently and uncover a path forward.
