Serious Games – Putting Your Knowledge Into Play

Wendy White and Jonathan Estes

What do games have to do with driving innovation, optimizing business objectives, curing disease, or addressing climate change?

Quite a lot, actually!

Discover the emerging field of Serious Games and how it is changing the way we think about learning, problem solving, behavior change and culture development.

Your toughest OD challenges will be the backdrop for understanding the basics of how the Serious Games change theory and approach create sustainable transformation.

Together we will play and gain first-hand insights into how Serious Games generate rich experiences and model behaviors that readily translate to the real world.  Case studies will demonstrate how Serious Games have been used in corporate, university, and international development settings that result in whole organizations winning against their greatest challenges because they are quite literally, playing the same game!

Wendy B. White, Co-founder and CEO, Continuum Consulting, is an international Organizational Development leader partnering with clients in a wide range of sectors from Fortune 500 companies to government, educational institutions, International NGO’s, and social entrepreneurs.  This experience, coupled with internal OD roles with FHI360 and Blue Cross Blue Shield or NC, allows her to go beyond best practices theory to an insider’s understanding of the challenges clients face as they navigate cultural norms, generation gaps, employee engagement, differing personalities and company politics. Wendy is an innovative leader and consultant creating and facilitating FutureWave Summits, and incorporating serious game technology, MBTI, Appreciative Inquiry and Experiential Solutions that ensure desired, sustainable, results.

Jonathan Estes, Founder and CEO, Smart Game Systems, is an accomplished leader, keynote speaker, insightful writer and an innovator in Learning and Organizational Development.  During the birth of the internet, as CEO of New Course Education, Jonathan contributed to the development of some of the first eLearning modules for universities and corporate training, he also developed an analytics tool, ProCourse, to substantiate the business impact of interpersonal skills training.  With a degree in International Development, he led highly effective adult literacy-campaigns in North and South America and with TheraSim, Jonathan led international teams in the deployment of simulation software for HIV/AIDS health practitioner training in sub-Saharan Africa.  Jonathan is now coupling his expertise in business with education, eLearning, simulations, analytics and a passion for games to serve as a change agent leveraging the power of serious games with community leaders, corporate teams, and INGOs, making a difference in the world.
